For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Minnesota service provider committed $500 from each October HVAC installation to nonprofit.
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn (November 19, 2024) – Hero Home Services, the top-rated air conditioning, heating, and plumbing provider that has served the Twin Cities for over 100 years, presented a donation to Minnesota Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC) at the service provider’s headquarters last week.
During the month of October, Hero Home Services donated $500 for each full HVAC unit installation in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, raising a generous total of $42,500. Every penny of the donation will go to help cancer patients in active treatment with their everyday, nonmedical needs like utilities, rent, gasoline, food and childcare.
“Every single person in the Minnesota community has been impacted in some way by breast cancer,” said Zach Engen, President of Hero Home Services. “The team at Hero chose Minnesota Breast Cancer Coalition as the recipient of this donation because 100% of their donations go directly to patients and their families. We are grateful for the opportunity to give back to a volunteer-led organization with a 30-year legacy of helping our community fight the hardships of cancer.”
Leadership from the Hero Home Services team hosted MBCC representatives last week for the check presentation, thanking them for the stellar work they do to keep Minnesota women and loved ones comfortable throughout treatment.
“Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for the Hero Home Services team,” said Christine Norton, Co-Founder and President of Minnesota Breast Cancer Coalition. “The donation from Hero will help to ease the stress that is always part of any type of cancer treatment and will help patients be able to focus on their treatment rather than how they will pay their rent, utilities or childcare.”

About the Minnesota Breast Cancer Coalition
The Minnesota Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC) is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1991. Its mission is to end breast cancer by advocating for increased research funding and access for all to evidence-based screening and treatment. Since MBCC has no fundraising or administrative expenses, 100% of all donations go directly to its Patient Assistance Fund. This fund aids breast cancer patients with non-medical expenses such as rent/mortgage, childcare, utilities, transportation/parking, and food/gasoline gift cards. MBCC assists breast cancer patients being treated at any M Health Fairview Hospital or Clinic throughout Minnesota.
Social workers and patient assistance specialists at M Health Fairview Hospitals and Clinics identify those breast cancer patients in need and disburse funds as necessary. The lead social worker makes the final decisions regarding fund disbursement. From January 1 through October 31, 2024, the MBCC Patient Assistance Fund has distributed $15,385.25 to breast cancer patients in active treatment. For more information on their efforts, visit the MBCC website at http://www.mnbcc.org.
