3 Ways to Lower Energy Costs This Summer

We’re supposed to have money during the summer to play golf, go out to eat and enjoy the warm weather, right? Why spend all of your hard earned paycheck on energy bills just to keep cool? By changing your lifestyle just a tiny bit, you’ll have plenty of money left over to spend on things you really enjoy.

  1. You can use a draft blocker in the summer – If you thought draft blockers only worked in the wintertime, think again. If your exterior doors don’t have a weather-tight seal, it’s like running your air conditioner with the windows open. For just a few dollars, you can purchase a draft blocker and begin saving while keeping cool.

  2. Don’t forget about the ceiling fan – sitting in one room watching TV or reading a book? You may want to turn off the air conditioner and turn on the fan instead. You’ll feel cool for a much lower price.

  3. Open up – instead of running your AC all night long, open up the windows and take advantage of the cooler air. If it’s still too warm, you can purchase an inexpensive window fan to bring the warm air outside or bring the cool air in.
