5 Everyday Items That Are Dirtier Than A Public Toilet Seat

Toilet seats are pretty disgusting, right? Well, you might be surprised
to learn that many of the items you use on a daily basis actually contain
more germs. As a matter of fact, you’ve touched at least one of
these things already today.

  1. Cutting Boards: yes, they’re dirtier than you think. Cutting boards actually contain
roughly 200 times more fecal bacteria than a toilet seat according to
researchers at the University of Arizona. Be sure to wash them thoroughly
    after each use.

  2. Laundry: well, it’s clean right? Wrong. One load of underwear can transfer
100 million E. coli bacteria or more, especially when it gets mixed in
with other clothing in the washing machine. It’s a good idea to
clean your machine with a disinfecting solution at least once a month.

  3. Ice In Your Drink: believe it or not, over 70% of ice served in restaurants tested dirtier
than the water in the average toilet. Just let that sink in for a minute.

  4. Smartphones/Tablets: in a study conducted back in 2013, 30 tablets, 30 phones and an office
toilet seat were all swabbed. The results found that tablets had up to
600 units per swab of staphylococcus and phones had 140 units while the
toilet seat had less than 20.

  5. Computer Keyboards: if you’re reading this, chances are you touched your keyboard just
a few seconds ago. We hate to break it to you, but keyboards typically
contain five times more bacteria than toilet seats.

Heading for that can of Lysol yet? We’re not trying to scare you,
we’re just here to inform you that lots of daily items are much
dirtier than you think. And maybe it’s time to stop being so hard
on your toilet seat!
