Discover Lawn and Garden Plumbing Tips

Did you know that April is National Lawn and Garden month? That’s
right, it’s time to start thinking about spending more time outdoors
getting your yard ready for the new season. And in order to make this
happen, you’re going to need to get your home’s outdoor plumbing
system back in action.

  1. Remember when you shut down the water lines to your outdoor plumbing back
in the fall? It’s time to open them back up for spring and summer.
Look for pipes feeding outdoor spigots and sinks and open up the valves.

  2. Reattach garden hoses and check for leaks. You should be looking for water
dripping from the hose as well as the hose bib.

  3. Turn on all outdoor faucets and make sure there are no leaks. If you notice
anything, call in a professional plumber right away.

  4. Clean out gutters and downspouts. If possible, try to direct them toward
your garden so you don’t have to water them as frequently. This
is a great tactic for any area of your yard that needs additional water
    during the warmer months.

  5. Pay attention to the weather. Turn sprinklers off on days when it rains
    to avoid over watering.

Now that temperatures are finally heating up, get out and enjoy the outdoors.
And if you need a plumber this season, you know you can count on
Uptown. Just give us a call at (612) 324-1004.
