End of Summer Furnace Checklist

We hope you’ve been spending lots of time having fun in the sun this summer. But before the warm weather makes its way out of town and cooler temperatures begin to settle in, it’s time to check on your furnace. You know, the thing that keeps your house warm when it’s cold outside that’s been put to rest for the warmer months.

You would hate it if your furnace decided not to work on the first cold day of the fall, right? Well, here’s what you should be doing now to make sure it’s ready to go:

  1. Clean or replace the filter – we strongly encourage you to check on the filter once a month, but if you don’t remember the last time you took the time to clean or replace it, now is the time. Not only will this help increase your system’s efficiency, it’ll help you save on energy bills all fall and winter.

  2. Make sure the system is clean – keeping the area around the furnace is key. It’s also important to vacuum out any dust or debris that may have collected since the last time you used the furnace.

  3. Take this time to have carbon monoxide detectors installed – in case anything goes wrong during the winter, it’s a great idea to have CO detectors installed. They can also detect air problems that could be caused by the furnace.

  4. Call in the pros for a seasonal inspection – even if you’re handy and enjoy getting the system ready, you should have it inspected by an expert. That’s where we come in!
